The General Secretary's duties consist of the following:
Keeping the minutes at all regular and special meetings of the convention. Minutes of all auxiliaries, boards, or committees shall be given to the General Secretary to be included with his minutes and for filing. The General Secretary shall make sure that all important or historical information is given to the Historian. Once a year, a manual containing all minutes shall be prepared and distributed to all member churches.
Notification of Membership - The General Secretary shall notify all members of the following: Meeting places, the time of meetings, announcements, new officers and their duties, new committees, boards or auxiliary appointments, special elections or appointments, home-going services of Pastors & Spouses and convention officers, send letters of condolence, and notify the Executive Board concerning all unfinished business of the Convention.
The Convention Roll - The General Secretary shall keep an accurate roster of member churches. A membership roster shall consist of the Church's name, Pastor's name, address, telephone number, Pastor's name and contact person. A letter shall be sent to churches without a pastor offering our assistance. A congratulatory letter shall be sent to a recently installed Pastor of a
in the Metropolitan area. Registration for membership shall be handled by the General Secretary. All fees and monies shall be recorded and given to the Treasure. Also during the Annual Session he shall be in charge of registration badges and kit distribution. Missionary Baptist Church
Custodian of Records - In addition to the minute files, the General Secretary shall be in charge of the records of the convention, such as the convention charter, Seal of the convention, Incorporation papers, Constitution, and Bank statements. All records of importance to the Convention shall be kept by him and placed on a computer disk.
