NCBC under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Stephen Tucker has partnered with the Court Services Offender Supervision Agency in their Faith-Reentry Initiative assisting persons coming out of incarceration. Through his church is an active substance abuse ministry called New & Living Way, and HIV-AIDS Conversation Center and a vibrant youth ministry. Former Secretary of State Colin L. Powell honored Dr. Tucker With the “George Schultz Award” for community service. In 2011 Dr. Tucker received the national Edward Rhoades Award for Urban Ministry from the American Baptist Churches, U.S.A.
